Boom

Hi All
I am running a super 7 M598LMR motherboard with 2 sticks
168 pin 128 meg and one 64 meg sdram pc-100 ram for a total of 320 meg ram.
The cpu is amd k6-11-500 mhz.The O/S is windows 95B.
My problum is when I setup the cpu anywere past 350 mhz in setup I get this message when win 95 trys to boot:
While initial device IOS:
Windows protection erro.
You need to restart your computer.
Then I will reset the cpu too 350 mhz and everything is fine.
I would like to run it at 500 mhz as that is why I upgraded
my computer.
Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance
Sam

How are you trying to get it to 500mhz?
Are you increasing the Bus speed, the multiplier, or both?
The CPU you are using has a bus speed of 100mhz with a multiplier of 5.

I enter setup on bootup.
There is an auto setup for the cpu.
you set the mhz and it auto sets the rest .

You need the AMD patch for Windows 95.

Glc is right, go into your BIOS, disable the cache (yes, the system is going to boot VERY slowly, but it will boot) then apply the patch. Reboot, re-enable the cache, then everything will be fine.

Hi
I downloaded the patch and installed it as you said.
I setup the cpu to run at 500 mhz and it booted up ok and ran fine.
After I shut down and later on started up the computer I got the same message as in my post, and would not boot.
Back to 350 mhz and it ran fine.
Thanks for your help all
Sam
