HP DeskJet 930C colour fault

My HP Deskjet 930C printer has developed a fault whereby it prints a pale blue shadow of whatever it is printing a few millimeters to one side of the printout. It even does this on greyscale only printout. The only exception to this is when it prints with the pure black option (i.e. no colour added to the black ink). It even does this when printing its alignment and test pages which leads me to suspect the printer itself and not a software driver problem.

Anyone had experience of this or know of the cause/solution?

I'd suspect the color cartridge first. Remove the cartridge, wet a folded up paper towel with hot water, and hold the tip on the towel for a few minutes. Blot the tip with a dry towel and make sure there is no ink residue on it anywhere and put it back in. Inspect the inside of the printer for ink residue and clean up what you can.

Thanks glc......I should have mentioned that I've already tried a new colour cartridge - same problem. I fear it is some sort of hardward fault that's probably incurrable.
