hard drive

Not sure if this is the right place but this the only place i found anything on modding so here it is.
I want to window my old harddrive but dont want to damage it. HAs anyone done this and how do you do this. i dont know how to keep out the dust.

Do it on a clean surface and use very thin plexi for the window. I haven't done it yet but I am about to experiment on a dead HDD I have laying around. There is a tutorial somewhere, I'll try to find it for you.

You have to be incredibly careful with hard drives. The reason being that if even the smallest amount of dirt or dust gets inside and on the platters, you have a dead HD.

You want a clean (brand new) anti-static bag standing by so when you remove the lid you can get the bottom of the hard drive straight into it to prevent dust getting on the disk.

Don't touch the platters, I think I read a guide on doing it somewhere and they cut up a CD case to make the window and fixed it in with silicone sealant.
