New Motherboard, system wont work.

I bought a GIGABYTE GA-8VT800-L PT800 motherboard......

I installed it, installed all my hardware onto it, double checked everything, botted up:

The problem:

hardware turns on, all case fans, cpu fan, fan on my graphics card, HD is on, my cd, dvd-rw, cd-r everything is getting power and running....BUT......nothing show up on the screen, the mobo doesnt make the "beep" sound, it just sits there....doesnt go through post or anything, blank screen HD isnt making any noise as if it was loading an O/S....

I checked, re-checked, re-installed every component, took out what isnt needed to boot up to an o/s...........
re-installed my old mother board, installed all my hardware, to make sure everythign still works, the system boots up just fine with the old motherboard......took it put, put the new motherboard in, same problem......i probably spent 7 hours on this.......

Yes the monitor is plugged it......

The Hardware specs
(new m/b) GIGABYTE GA-8VT800-L PT800 (the old m/b is the same brand, never had problems with it.)
Intel P4 2.0 ghz cpu
512mb pc3200 ram (kingston)
MSI Geforce4 Ti 4800 SE
IDE Maxtor 80GB HD
Hypothesis

It acts as though, the graphics card (in the agp slot ofcourse) isnt working, which could explain why nothings showing up on screen?

And for some reason the Harddrive isnt booting up the o/s? probably why i cant hear it doing anything?

So they act as if they're not compatible with the motherboard? but if you look at the motherboard specs they are compatible.....

the motherboard is 8X AGP, the graphics card manual says "support for AGP 4x / 8x....

So if everythings compatible, eeverything installed correctly, what could the problem be?

If your system boots fine with your old motherboard, then it is safe to assume that your new one is dead.

i would think that, but, if it were dead, then wouldnt nothing come on? because all the hardware is getting power, just nothing is doing anything

No, Your power supply would plug directly into your drives as well, so everything would still get power even if the motherboard is gone.

Seeing as how everything else works with your old motherboard, I think your new one is toast. Can you RMA it?

i know about the HD and cd drives getting power, but what about the graphics card getting power? its only getting power through the motherboard, i only think its getting power because the fan on the grapihcs card is on...

i dont know how to rma it

RMA = Return Merchandise Authorization

Can you return it to where you bought it, if it is in fact dead?

And I would assume that power would still flow through the board even if some part of it was toast.
