Question

What are the main differences between these boards. I've read reviews on the Tiger 200, and it sounds great, but my budget is kind of tight being that the Tiger 230 costs about half the price of the Tiger 200 , well I've been thinking about it. I am building a Video Editing workstation. It will have 2 Pentium III 933 MHz, 512MB SDRam, 2 Maxtor Diamond Max Plus (7200)(Raid), Maxtor 5400 for system use, Sony CD-RW, Hercules Sound Card, Dv Raptor Editing Card, ATI Xpert 2000 32MB Display Video Card, Wind. 2000 Pro. I know that everyone here knows a lot more about PC than I do, I'm not very much into this, my priority is Music, and Video Editing , but I also do this a little because truthfully I can't afford to purchase a built workstation.

Please recommend!!!!!!!

Thanks!!!

The differences I saw on Tyan's site (www.tyan.com) are basically the Tyan 200 has more features such as promise IDE Raid on board, integrated graphics and LAN connection on board. These features alone will explain the higher price. HTH

Smile yeah, I think your right.

Yeah, that's the way I see it myself. thanks for the help! I'm going to order the Tyan Tiger 230. It's a lot cheaper and I strongly beleive it will do just fine. Do you have any suggestions towards what CPU's to purchase? I have in mind 2 Pentium III 933Mhz, but I've read of some people mentioning something about "EB" and "E" and others, and the ones I plan on purchasing just don't say anything of that sort. They are just listed as 933Mhz.

thanks!

"E" PIII's are the ones that are cumine, "EB" means the pIII is has a cumine core and runs at the 133 bus. I think your overclocking chances would be better with 800E's, but I don't if you are able to changet the bus speed on the Tyan 230. If you can't go ahead and stick with the 933's..which are EB I believe by the way. HTH
