Boom

I have 2 machines. 1 Intel P2 MM 166 Mhz 32 RAM Windows 98, 1 AMD K6 400 64 RAM Windows ME.

The Me system is recently installed to a clean harddisk, the Win 98 has been working fine for many months.

Suddenly on both systems I have slow, sticky or unresponsive
mouse action. This as I am sure you know can be a real frustration.

Neither system indicates IRQ conflicts, I have bought a new mouse and tried on both systems.

I can only think it has to be a sofware problem. I have IE 5.5, RealPlayer 8, ICQ2000, on both. These are the only major packages that are similar. Else I have Office 2000 on the Me, and Office 97 on the Win98.

All updates and drivers are installed.

What now ??? After 3 weeks my nerves are getting weary and so is my modem :-{)).

I've never heard of a virus that would mess up ypur mouse, but I guess that doesn't mean that there isn't one. Since it happened basically at the same time on both systems, I would run an up-to-date antivirus program on them.

Hi kasou,

What type of mouse is it? If it is the kind with the little roller-ball then you should check for crud on the rollers. This may sound weird, but every few weeks my mouse gets stuck and is very hard to control because little dirt wads build up on the rollers. Just pop open the bottom and look at the two rollers for buildup. Hope that helps.

Smile Found the problem , got another one instead

Thanks for yr interest. I found the problem. My S3 Video card had a burn on one of the connectors(dont ask how).
I bought a new card SAVAGE4. Mouse is better but not great.

Now I find that my AOE2 game (and the start up monitor screen) is very dark with my 15" monitor, but not my old Philips 14A.

What a weird world we live in.
