Intel Celeron D MOBO compatibility

Hey,

I just have a quick question - the Celeron D models were released about a week or two ago. I was wondering what motherboards would support it. It's a regular socket 478 so would a regular MOBO like the Asus P4P800-E Deluxe or a Abit IC7 be able to handle it?

Thanks,
kram

Yes. Any 478 motherboard will work with a Celeron-D. As long as it supports a 533FSB.

i've heard these may be pretty mean overclockers. providing you dont get the new boards which limit FSB OC! (well done intel)

I think the board has to support Prescott to be compatible. I'd assume the better board makers will have updated bioses available for this.

So I'm guessing it's on the same grounds as the Intel Pentium 4 Prescott Processors - you just need to get a BIOS that supports it. So I'm guessing the popular boards such as the Asus P4P800 SE/E Deluxe or the Abit IC7 should support it, granted that we go and flash the BIOS. I'm really looking forward to this CeleronD - it may actually be far better in many aspects (such as OC'ing ability) than the Athlon XP Bartons .

Thanks,
kram
