Infrared device
Under my system there is an built in infrared device listed. It is using resources ok. This has been listed ever since i bought my computer, but does this mean i would be able to use my mobile phones infrared port to communicate with my pc or would i have to invest in further hardware. I have looked on the spec for my mobo and cant see one listed on there and i have looked inside the tower and cant see anything that resembles a built in infra red device, so what does this mean?

What is the name of the infrared device? It's showing in your Device Manager, right?

Yeah it shows in my device manager but all it says it "built-in infrared device" and thats it.

So you bought your computer, it saids it features infared, but the actual infared is nowhere to be found? I would imagine it's some type of external device...something unusual connected to the motherboard?

Well it never said it featured infrared but its just this thing that appears under my system devies, the builtin infrared port, i jsut wondered what it was as i cant see anything that resembles an infrared port anywhere.

Ok i just checked my manual for my mobo again and on the diagram of the board there is a little pin called infrared module connector, i'll open up my case and see if there's anything conneted to it.
