Angry USB 2 / External HD Problems

Hello all, I recently put together a dual xeon PC... i have a PC-DL deluxe mobo with 4 usb 2.0 ports. My problem comes when i try to hook up my Lacie external hd to the machine. The PC will not recognize the HD, i have windows XP Pro with SP1 installed and the proper usb 2.0 drivers, i know the HD works, it has been tested on another machine. I know the USB port works because i tested a USB game pad in the port. I have no clue why XP will not recognize the Hard Drive, If anyone could help that would be greatly appreiciated...

Are you saying that when you plug the drive in, the new hardware found box doesn't pop up?

If XP sees it when you plug it in and tells you your hardware is ready for use, all you have to do is open Disk Management and it should see the drive and offer to write a signature to it. Don't make it a dynamic disk, keep it basic.
