I ran across your forum while doing research to start my first "from scratch" system. I am considering an AMD 1.2 GHz
with 266 FSB on the ASUS A7M266 board. I wondered if anyone knew the story on the list of AMD approved motherboards. The A7M266 is approved for use with all Athalons up to 1.2 running 200 MHz FSB, but approval for the 266 FSB CPUs is "under review". I thought it may be because the hardware was so new, but several other MoBo's are listed as approved for the new chips. Anybody know what is going on? Thanks. Great site and forum. |

Don't buy a 266mhz TBird, problem solved.
The two different chips are identical, just that one has a higher bus and lower multiplier. Since you can unlock the multiplier on a TBird and change it to whatever you want, this isn't an issue. Xayd |
