Whats a good wireless network card, not good on this topic.
My parents recently bought me a Lynksys Wireless-G router, and now, I just need to get a wireless card. Does anyone know of a good one? I dont know too much on wireless stuff, so bare with me. I only have $42.45, so if u can show me a good card, that meets whatever requirements that my wireless router needs, then thanks. And no I dont need it to be compatible linux, cuz I need this for my parents comp. Thanx in advanced!

The easiest way to go would be a USB wireless adapter. No opening the case to install anything. I have had the best luck with Netgear as far as brands go. Here is what I would get: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...150-008&depa=1 If you need to go PCI, here is a good one: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...122-119&depa=1 Both are $50.99 at Newegg.

Linksys is the way to go if you have a router. If you use anothe brand you will have to imput all your ip info. With a linksys wireless card it will find itself and no need to do anything further.

I second linksys because a)they make great wireless networking products, IMHO and 2)it will avoid the tech support blame game (netgear would say it's the linksys router and vice-versa)
Although the linksys card doesnt fit into that budget I would save and get it when you can.

Just personal experence, but I will never buy linksys wireless gear again. I have a linksys USB NIC, and a Netgear NIC. Both are 1 room away from each other. I have never lost a connection with the netgear, but the linksys drops a few times a day. I've switched them to see if it's the location. It's not.

I'm a third on Linksys and I have to say that Cisco is working well on this laptop. The problem would be the price - I looked it up last night ,was going to post it, but it was about 20 USD excess your budget.

IMHO USB is more troublesome than PCI networking any day of the week!

I have never had any good luck with Netgear. For example try finding drivers when the hardware goes out of date. There support is the sux IMO
just a thought But like anything we all have good and bad expirences with something
