DDR2 system memory has just been implemented into the new Intel chipsets (motherboards) and the memory isn't running any faster than DDR1. The speed of the memory will obviously increase over time but it will take a little while. Just pick up two sticks of PC3200 (DDR1) memory as your potential current setup will not support DDR2 memory (only the Intel boards are supporting it right now). If you were wondering, the VIA chipset for the Socket 754 is the best choice. From the reviews I've seen on the Socket 939, the NVIDIA chipset (a different chipset than the 754 chipset) is the way to go. AMD's latest releases are very confusing so don't worry so much. I read on motherboards.org that the ASUS gives better overall performance as well. I wanted to buy the MSI K8N Neo Platinum at first too, but after Kram and HAL9000 said I had to watch out with MSI boards I did some research. Turns out the MSI card isn't bad, but there are better Mobo's (I think even some VIA chipsets gave better performance than the MSI). If anyone's interested I can see if I can dig up the link somewhere.

I dont think I would say anything that has to do with Newegg since I'm from europe and they dont ship outside the USA. You must have me confused with someone else.

Yeah, actually it did come in just last Thursday, if I recall. I swear I checked Newegg for Socket 754 AMD boards, and gave me only VIA chipsets
. And as for the tutorial, I'd be more than happy to post pictures, but tutorials, I don't think I'll have as much time for - sorry . Waiting for my last component to arrive from Newegg - in Fedex's hands now, hoping on a Monday arrival . However, Ric made a very nice Build Your own Computer Guide for his website that he completed very recently. You should check it out.

From my guide:
"Now, The AMD side of things is a little different. If you are using an Athlon 64, then the heatsink will install like the Intel heatsink." So just look at the link I put in the guide: ftp://download.intel.com/support/pro...s/p4p478_1.pdf For static, just make sure you stay connected to your case. It doesn't matter if you are on carpet if you are still connected to your case, people just say keep away from carpet because it means there is less static buildup. |

They are very cheap: http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...%5Fid=276-2397
Simply attach the alligator clip to a metal edge on the case and you will be grounded. When you are grounded, you wont risk electrostatic charges hurting your components. Peace of mind basically.
