New Plextor PX-Premium and PX-712A optical drives will not burn MP3 music CD's (using Roxio 7 or Nero 6 Ultra) that will play in my cars or home audio system, but they will play fine in my computers. Doing a directory shows that the CD's have the correct MP3 files on them too. My old Plexwriter has burned several hundred MP3 CD's that play fine in my cars and home audio system--AND it NEVER made a single coaster. Has Plextor somehow defeated, via their firmware, MP3 CD's from playing in cars and DVD players? (Guess I could be doing something wrong in using this new software)MikeSp Last edited by MikeSp; 07-16-2004 at 05:33 PM. |

I only use Verbatin or Fuji--but the issue was not with the media but a really stooooooooooopid operator error. DUH!

Yup--figured it out and as I indicated, it was a realllllly stupid operator error during a whole series of senior moments.

Care to share the solution so others hopefully won't make the same mistake? You won't be flamed, I assure you.

Ok--and this is REALLY DUMB--but I tried burning MP3 discs instead of Audio Discs which is why computers would play the CD and cars and home audio DVD player could not.

Don't be ashamed. I have done similar things.
I have a Plextor 10/24/40a burner and it is the best burner I have ever used or seen. It has also never made a coaster (except due to operator error ) and my next build will without a doubt include a Plextor DVD burner no matter how good they say Lite-On's, LG's, NEC's, etc. are Plextor has me sold. I still recommend other brands for people that aren't looking to spend too much because they are good too but I would rather spend a bit more for the excellent quality that I get from Plextor.

I can very easily see where someone could do this! This is not a dumb mistake at all for someone who doesn't know the differences between all the different formats of CD's and the nuances of burning software. Thank you for sharing!
