Ram prob or mobo prob?
My friend rma'ed his corsair value ram (2x512) because one of the sticks was faulty. He just got the replacements back today but the ram does not work when both are in the system at the same time. We tested each stick and both work fine on their own but do not work at all when they are together in any configuration...we tried every combo of slots possible...regardless of how we put them in..his monitor does not receive a signal after the system powers on...any ideas? i personally think slots 2 and 3 on his mobo are dead... btw his system specs include amd 64 2800, corsair dual value ram 1 gb, sapphire 9800 pro, msi k8t neo platinum, and 74 gb raptor -
also he discovered his power supply was dead today...its been raining with lots of t-storms and lightning..could the psu have been hit without damaging his other components? his psu is an enlight 360....thx and all comments are appreciated |

If you can go into the BIOS try increasing the voltage of the RAM, if it is allowed..try making it 2.6 vor 2.7v. Maybe that RAM just needs and extra boost...That happened to me with my Mobo, the RAM I have requires 2.8v to work properly in my motherboard...
Also, was he running his computer through a surge protector or not? Chances are the PSU just fried, but it may have taken some other stuff with it. If he gets a new PSU, try to increase the voltage, and then if it still doesn't work, maybe more parts are busted. |

Thx for the reply...I'll definetly try that when I can get to his house after work...since he's gone through the process of rma'ing items already...he doesn't want to have to ever do it again..does anyone know what the default voltage on a msi k8t neo platinum is? and how high should i atempt to raise the voltage before it gets dangerous? if anyone has any other ideas about fixing this problem feel free to respond.

On value RAM keep it low, between 2.6-2.7v, if nothing else works at all, take it to around 2.8v, and if that doesn't work then the RAM is your problem and you should try to RMA it :-(
