Monitor Blanks Out and Computer Restarts

Lately, at least 2-3 times per day, my 19 inch monitor blacks out and the computer automatically restarts for no reason. It seems to do it most often when I have a lot of different programs running, but it has happened when I'm not even working at the computer and just one or two programs are on. I'm sure there's a reason and that's why I'm writing. Does anyone have any ideas?

I checked the electric plugs and they are all in securely.

The monitor is a 1.5 year old 19" Envision CRT, EN 910-e.
I don't have the details of my video driver. However, I know that the drivers were updated once a while ago and cannot be updated now because the manufacturer went out of business or was bought out by another company.

What are the rest of your specs? (including the brand of your PSU) Or is this a proprietary machine?

Go into control panel, system, advanced - startup and recovery. Uncheck the box for restart on error, next time it happens it will bluescreen instead of reboot. Read the first few lines of the bluescreen for clues to the problem.

No idea if this is your issue but a couple of months ago there was a virus out there that would make your PC reboot for no reason. I'm sure you know there's a lot of things besides a virus that can cause that to happen but you might want to run a system scan with your anti virus.

The OS is Windows 98.
The computer was built by MWave 5 years ago and we haven't had anyproblems with it until lately.

If it's Win98, disregard my post. You have a heat issue most likely. Time to make sure all fans are running and everything is free of dust, especially the CPU heatsink. Another possibility is faulty ram.
