Correct CPU FSB choice
Just to *make sure* I am not failing to multiply by a factor of 2, I wanted to verify that for a board hosting the nforce2 ultra 400 chipset, in order to maximize performance, I will want a CPU that supports a 400MHz FSB, correct?
Example: for the Gigabyte 7N400-Pro2 I might want a 3000+ Barton that supports 400MHz FSB. ....or is this a waste of money? |

If you want best performance, yes, if you have ddr 400 ram, yes. If not, there is no point.

I have that chip in an Asus A7N8X - E Deluxe. Personally, I'd recommend a 2600+ at 333fsb and some nice low latency PC3200 memory. Or if you want to do some overclocking, get a 2500 Mobile and some good cooling. Check the system in my sig.

Think that 3000+, 400 fsb chip is only available in oem version, cricket. No heatsink/fan and no 3 year warranty. Nice thing for overclockers tho cuz it seems that Neweggs stock has been the unlocked multiplier version. At least that's what I got when I bought mine.
