How do you tell if you have RAID 1?

A friend of mine has a gateway that came with 2x250GB hard drives in RAID 0 which meant that they would show up as a 500GB C: drive. One of the drives died and gateway sent a new drive, he reformatted and stuff but he thinks he did it in RAID 1. He doesn't mind having it in RAID 1, it's just that he wants to know if it's actually for sure in RAID 1. How would he go about finding this info, I believe he's in Windows XP Home with SP1. Any help is, as always, much appreciated!

Try going into the BIOS and finding out how your HD's are set up.

I would first go into My Computer and see if you can see 2 HDD's. If you can the it is not Raid. Both Raid 0 and 1 will show only 1 HDD.

In My Computer it shows one hard drive that is 250GB in size. There are two 250GB hard drives installed in the machine, so I assume since one completely doesn't show up anywhere that it is actually working in Raid 1 mode. Thanks for the help!
