SATA HD problem
I am trying to create a SATA driver diskette but it seems like my floppy drive is not being recognized. When I boot the system and go into setup, it isnt automatically recognized and I need to configure drive A: manually. Then when I try and create the SATA driver disk, it seems to stall out and then finally post the error message: "Drive not Ready. Cannot redirect input from file"
Does anyone have any ideas what the problem is? Specs: ASROCK K8S8X mobo MSI RX9800 vid card 80GB SATA HD AMD 64 3000+ proc. Thanks, Wilt |

Is the power connector connected to the floppy drive?
Do you have a steady light on the floppy drive? If so, unplug the floppy cable, turn the cable over and plug it back in.

Also, make sure the floppy drive is on the end of the cable with the weird twist.

Sata HD
The floppy has power and is connected at the end with the twist. It is also connected the right way around. When I try and create the driver disk, the green light comes on so it looks like it is reading. However, the green light stays on and the floppy drive stays active for about 3 mins and then the error message occurs. Is there anything in the BIOS that I need to change. I went and put drive A: as 1.4mb floppy. The wierd thing is that the BIOS automatically recognised the CD drive I have. However, when I went into the floppy configuration, it was disabled and I had to manually choose 1.44mb. Is that normal or should the BIOS have picked that up?

You may have a defective floppy drive, cable, or actual disk.
