Unhappy Wrong CMOS Settings

Hi,

First off i am really new here and i dont post that often, i got this junk computer from my friend, the computer is a cyrix 133 mhz cpu, 2.4 gigas of space, 64 mbs of ram, a cd rom (dont know how much X), 1.44 mb floppy disk drive, and a 5.25 inch floppy disk drive. I took the old box apart to learn each part and its function then i put it back together, whenever i boot it up it says "cmos settings wrong
Cmos settings checksum bad
Cmos display type wrong
please press F1 for setup"

so i go there but i dont know what to do , i am not really good with bios or Cmos so if any of you could help me here that would be great and thanks.

Maybe the motherboard battery is dead. Get a new one and boot the computer up again. You'll probably get the error message again, but go into BIOS and enter all the correct settings for that system. When you reboot again, the message shouldn't appear.

Usually you can just save and exit the bios and the message won't come back unless the battery IS dead. If the battery is dead, most of those TX Pro's (a cheap PC Chips knockoff of a TX board with a SiS chipset - total garbage) have what's called a Dallas chip with the battery in it - you can find replacements for around $15-$20 but it requires soldering skills to change.

I guess your right the battery is probably dead because every time i go in the bios and set everything up and save, the moment i shut down the computer every single change i did is lost, but what the heck the system isnt worth spending money on, i got it to see parts and study them, i guess i will just throught it out, but thanks guys for your help i really apreciate it.
