AIR flow

Just order 3 vantec stealth 80mm fans and a 120mm one. Plan on replacing the 80mm fan i have on the side of my case(intake fan) putting 2 80mm on the front for intake adn the 120mm for out take along with my PSU witch has a fan for outake.. I have been told that your supposed to have equal airflow in and out but i dont know if you count the PSU or not. If you dont then i dont know how to fix the problem.
Thx

Yeah you count the PSU. Opinions here differ but I think it is important to have it somewhat close. From what you describe I think the airflow pattern will be good. The important thing is just to monitor temps and if they get higher or are not as low as you think you can get them swap the fans around and see what happens. To have intake equal the exhaust you would have to measure each fans cfm rating and start balancing from there (IMO it's not worth it unless you just want to tinker with it).

I think the most important thing is that you have air flowing through the case and warm air being exhausted out the back. You can try to get the intake and exhaust balanced, but as long as you have the air flowing I think you'll be okay. Don't obsess over it.

On my own computers I only install 1 exhaust fan on the back of the case and no front intake fan. I can feel cool air being sucked into the case from the front and warm air being expelled from the back and I have no heat related problems.

I have only ever had heat related problems with high end systems running a big video card, a family of big ram sticks, a big CPU, and so forth. For the average system, I use one in and one out, and never have any trouble. I tend to be more particular of my OCed gaming machine, which is sometimes called apon to do hours worth of rendering and shuch, and runs the CPU, Ram, and video card components at max for hours on end, while running HDDs at full tilt. In an extreme case like this, you may want to go nuts like I did and go for 7 case fans. Normally, there is no need for that kind of overkill.

Hmmm, that sounds like waht i'll be doing. I wont do just straight rendering for hours on end, but an occasional light render here or there. I am getting 5 Stealths (4x80, 1x120) and I have an extra PSU fan. note quite 7, but its up there. I dont think I'm gonna go for a tornado, I'm trying to keep my computer under 40dB, thank you very much...
