Hope I don't offend anyone by asking here but I wasn't sure where this question should be asked!
The deal is: I usually check e-mail at work. My e-mail address is provided by a local isp. When I check my e-mail in MS Outlook, I remove it from isp server. If I download mail at home (with Outook as well), I sometimes get mail I would like to move to my work PC. As far as I can tell, there is no way to sync these files by moving data from one to the other using a floppy.
I thought the Palm I got for my birthday (what a wife!) would cure this problem. They have the Hotsync manager and Pocketmirror software to do this. But when I try to "Synchronize the files" I invariably get an overwrite of the Palm by whichever desktop I'm using. This results in loss of the mail. It's worse than the Post Office! Ha!
Does anyone have any experience here? Thanks to anyone who will take a stab at it...

Hey Andy,
well one solution would be to NOT delete email from server. Or check email on both desktops, then delete from server.
As for mail settings, I don't save email on my palm I get way too much for that. I do not see a function in the palm hotsync manager email settings where the palm can overwrite desktop, like it can in other settings.
Good luck.

Maybe my question is more basic than I phrased it...Is it possible that the mail is saved on the isp server? When I select "Send and Receive" in Outlook, I don't see any choices offered regarding deletion from the server. Is this a common feature?

If you are checking the same mail account on 2 machines, set ONE of them to "leave a copy of messages on the server". That way, when you check the mail with that machine, it's still there to be downloaded for good on the other machine.

Another option is to just forward mail to yourself that you want to "move" to the other machine.

Thanks glc, "Leave a copy on the server" was what I was looking for, I just didn't find it in Outlook. So I checked control panel and got it corrected.
