problems with the printer
ok, so i have an Apple LaserWriter Pro 630. It is network ready, i connected it to my router and two of my macs perfectly print to it. But for some reason I can't connect it from my Pc. I keep going through the the add printer thing but still can't do it. I also don't know how to ping it.

Welcome to PC Mech forums
 I've been google searching for a bit, and finding that the printer itself boasts a parallel, serial, ethernet, and a AppleTalk Port. Don't see how if your router is connected through regular RJ45 cables, that it shouldn't see it like the Apple Computers. If its only print sharing you're desiring, then see if you can take the Windows PC and use the Parallel port - that's the easiest solution, while the other apple computers use the router's ethernet slot. no no. my printer has an ethernet port, but it wasn't a standart jack, i had to get a adapter to made it regular ethernet. i want to connect the printer to the router and be able to print from it. the reson im stubbord is because i want to place the printer ina different room from my PC. if i can i want to be able to connect the printer via the router.

How is the "adaptor" connected to the printer?
"Ping" by going to a command prompt (Start>Run>cmd or command)and type ping 192.168.100.25. Of course substitute the printers IP address for the one I used. Also, there is a space between ping and the numbers.

more questions
the adapter is asante friendly net. but that's immateral. whats important is that can you please clarify the pinging method. how do i know which address to ping? is that the address you said in your post? how do i ping if i don't know the IP address.
BTW i think my printer doesn't support TCP/IP can u please confirm this. some some it does and some say it doesn't thanx and sorry to be such a darn noob. |

Excuse me, you said it was "network ready"
The manual with the Adaptor should have given you the nw ip. Or software to discover it. |

Hello
Sorry for interruption , but iam having a problem with my printer. Iam using a HP DeskJet 670C Printer, When ever i try to print any document, the paper gets jammed in the printer and sometimes when the paper completely comes out ,it contains some strange spots on its sides. Can any one help me solve this problem. Regards, |
