I have never owned one but I have heard that they are an excellent brand. In fact, I believe they manufacture many of the big brand laptops like Dell and HP. I assume you are looking at Powernotebooks.com. They have a very high ResellerRating. After all the good things I have heard about them I wouldn't hesitate for a second if I was in the market for a laptop.

I was actually just looking at sagernotebooks.com. They are a tad cheaper (for their own products), and don't charge you differently if you use a credit card or not. I hear it's like 3 companies that manufacture 99% of the notebooks in the world and just brand them and ship them differently. Most seem to be made by Compal, I hear ChemBooks makes some, and someone else.
Have you heard anything about the Acer brand? |

All I know about Acer is that they have the lowest reliability rating in Consumer Reports Magazine. I believe that may have changed now but I'm not sure.

I have one; see my signature.
They are great machines, but of the desktop replacement type. Do not buy one expecting battery life or portability. Do NOT buy direct from Sager. I would recommend purchasing from www.pctorque.com (this is where I bought mine.) Buying directly from Sager means horrible tech support. I ordered mine with 3 year warranty and 3 year free shipping from pctorque, but haven't needed to use it yet (it's about 4-5 months old.) If you buy from someone else and have a bad experience, don't go around bashing Sager. I have heard from many sources that pctorque is the ONLY reseller you should order from, and I would have to agree.

Well I take it they neve heard of Powernotebooks.com. A 9.99 lifetime ResellerRating is insane! BTW, Iniamyen how well do games run on that laptop? 3.0c, Radeon 9700, and 1GB of RAM?! That is one hot laptop!

You probably can't go wrong with either reseller, I simply recommend pctorque because they are who I chose, and it's been a good experience thus far.
The laptop is very good performance-wise. Scores about 3500 in 3Dmark03, and runs most games almost as well as my desktop. I got the 12-cell battery option on it, and playing a 3D game on battery gives about an hour of battery life, just to give you an idea. Also, even though it's a laptop, you definitely CANNOT put it on top of your lap. |

Thanks for the info Iniamyen. I will probably go with the Sager 3790. That seems like it is a pretty good notebook, it has Centrino, and while it seems like it will be able to play games, it seems like it will also have good battery life, since it has Centrino and a Pentium-M instead of a P4 desktop processor. I would probably get it from PCTorque too because I joined their notebook forums, to get some answers about laptops in general, since not many here have one. Plus the seem to specialize in Sager, and a few Acer. Powernotebooks is crazy with their rating, but their stuff is a bit more expensive.
Also were you saying that if you get it from PCTorque, the warranty and tech support is handled through them, or is it still given through Sager? |

Sagers are excellent. We sell them all the time (check link in signature. BTW, we have excellent reseller ratings, too
) I agree with Iniamyen, sager itself doesnt have all that great tech support.
