I used to have only win98 on my pc. Recently I installed win2k and now I can not access the internet with win98, instead I get an error 630 everytime I want to make a new connection. When I checked device manager in win98 I noticed an exclammation point in a yellow circle next to PCI Communication device. What does that mean? Why do I get an error 630? What do I need to do to get connected to the internet using win98 besides win2k? I use 56.6K internal Motorola modem. By the way win98 uses CO2 port while win2k uses CO3. Is that normal? Any help!
Thank you. |

Looks like your modem driver was lost during the Win2k install. Boot into Win2k, download the driver, then reboot into Win98 and go to properties on the "PCI comm device" and run "update driver" under the driver tab, pointing it at the driver you downloaded.

If this is a SM56 modem, the drivers are here:
