Comp Temps.

I have been monitoring this for a while, and am no kinda confused to say the least...I understand that the cpu can jump almost 15C when it is under load, as mine often goes from around 45 to high 50C. i have a temp gauge on the case that reads the inside temp, and granted, it is situated a little towards the bottom, but it reads constantly about 20-25C lower then my cpu, even updwards of 35C under load...

is this right, should my cpu even reach temps of close to 58C. i have two intake, a blow hole, and 2 fan psu, one 80mm out on back, and a fan on in the window turned off at the moment, as i am unsure of wheter to have it blow in or out. it is positioned right over the cpu...

stock northwood 2.8 O'C @ 3.15 225FSB with stock hsf

Yes, your CPU temps look normal but the difference between the CPU and system shouldn't be that much. Try the side fan both ways and see which one gives you lower temps.

Where are you getting these temps from? A Windows based utility or from BIOS?

But really, if your system is running stable there's nothing to worry about.

stable is pretty much what i figured, which it is running stable...mbm5 is the util that i am using, but i have booted to bios and checked and it seems that the two aren't that far off...i was just wondering because i have been thinking about a new hsf for a while, one of the reasons being the intel hsf is so loud, but i guess they are all pretty much like that

I get 41C stable with an Intel P4 2.8C Northwood at stock speeds. 45+C sounds good with OC'ing.
