another heat question...

I have montherboard monitor 5 running on my computer.

Here is the temperature log...

CPU. Average- 47C, lowest- 42C, highest-63C, Current-49C
Case, Average- 37C, lowest- 34C, highest- 44C, Current 39C

When I quit games the cpu temp is usually around 62 or so.

I am running stock cooling solution on a AMD Athlon 2700
I have
9800 SE with a aftermarket cooling solution
512MB PC2700 DDR
80GB HD
DVDROM
DVDRW
5 Case fans

Is the temperature alright for my cpu? It is not overclocked. I have no instability issues with my system.

Yes, it's perfectly fine.

That's usually a good indication that you don't have a heat problem.

I've been wondering about this for quite some time. What is a good temperature range to try to keep your CPU in (Intel or AMD)?

Anything below about 50 degrees C is a good temperature, and nothing to worry about.

AMD and Intel have maximum temps for specific processors on their web sites. Both state that their processors can work up to about 85 to 90C (185 to 194F) and damage to the processor will start at anything higher.

When your processor is working full tilt, depending on which processor you have, you can see temps go as high as 65C...sometimes even into the 70s. But as long as the temps don't exceed the maximum you should be okay.

Idle temps in the 30s to 40s C are good (even 50s C if you have one of the hotter running CPUs). Working temps in the mid 40s to high 50s C range can be expected with spikes up into the high 60s to even low 70s C range (extreme cases).
