can i use my desktop cd-drive to install windows on a laptop?
I recently purchased a laptop (Toshiba Portege 3110CT) that did not include an external CD drive. Is it possible to hook my laptop up to my desktop to use the internal desktop CD drive to install Windows XP on the laptop? I have a external floppy that can install the bootdisks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I purchase a 2.5 to 3.5 ide adapter, will I be able to load the operating system? If so, how do I connect the adapter from pc to my laptop?

no. Laptops use a 44-pin interface(slim atapi). You can buy an external case to convert the drive to USB or firewire.
