3.2 Prescott Temps... am i too hot?

alright so i built my computer but im a complete newbie at this stuff.. its a 3.2 Gig prescott P4 on a Asus P4P 800 board along with 1024MB of some samsung ddr ram. I recently installed a fan controller and a few new fans and noticed my temps seemed a little high. Especially around my ATI X800 Pro 256MB card. Let me know what you think

At Idle.
Video card zone - 114.8 F - 46C
cpu - 86.9 F - 30.5C
Hard drive - 97.7 - 36.5C
ambiant case - 78F - 26C

Just curious.. let me know what you guys think.
THANKS!

-Dave

i dont think those temps are high at all. usually, temps that are high are in the 60s-70s range

You may want to get a little more air flow around your video card like with a side case fan blowing on the video card.

Your temps are fine, with the intel p4's you don't have to worry unless your computer starts running REALLY sluggish (cpu down clocking itself to avoid overheating) or you start getting lockups or reboots. Just for reference, my 2.8E prescott has gotten up to 81.5C running two instances of F@H. Is that a 478 or 775 pin prescott?

Actually, a temperature of 30.5 for a P4 Prescott is pretty low. Where are you getting these temps from? The BIOS or a Windows based utility?

my amd 64 2800+ (1.6GHZ) oc'ed to 2.4GHZ is running at 45C while playing games like halo, actually it runs at lil bit lower temps than that, but that is pretty good if you ask me.

30.5C for a prescott, thas good, prescotts usaualy run hot, so dun worry about it. but if you are worried. . get water cooling, cost around 150$, for a cheap one that is. . .

its the 478. and i got these temps with internal sensors from my fan controler and a windows based program called AsusProbe i got with my mother board. the Temp of my video card is really concerning me. i just recently installed a PCI slot exaust fan below it to kinda blow the air out the back. and it still didnt change much. Thanks for the info though guys

Hmmm...If you can translate Celsius to Farenheit, you can get your answer. I can tell you that the latest generation of video cards idle at around 68 Celsius. im guessing that your temperature isnt that bad...find out what 68 C is in F

Installing a slot fan right under the video card might help keep the GPU temps under control.

How's your case cooling setup? How many case fans do you have and how are they arranged?

I actually do have a Slot fan right under the vid card. i have 2 case fans.. one in the front and one in the back. Their pretty high output too. then i have the fan controllers built in fan. and the slot Exhaust fan. that works awesome. what are my options?

How's the openings on the fan ports? Does the sheetmetal only have small holes in it or are the openings have big enough holes so that air can pass through easily? If the openings only have small holes you might want to consider cutting out the opening and using a chrome fan grill to keep small fingers out.

Which way are your fans blowing? Front intake, rear exhaust?

Are all your wires and cables neatly tucked out of the air flow paths?

Unhappy

actually they are both blowing in.. and the slot fan is blowing out. The holes are pretty good sized and the fans push alot of air. the wires are a little thick so they are hard to hide. but i did the best i could. same results .

The case fan on the back of the case, flip it around so that it blows outward...you want it to help remove built up heat from the case.
