NEC burner speed problem
I have a NEC 2510 dual layer burner. Supposed to be up to 8x speed burns. Only will do 4x even with 8x dvd's(what a waste of money). Not sure how to fix this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go into Device Manager, Properties of the secondary IDE Controller, then the DMA tab (or similar).

That's the correct setting. The media used could be giving a problem, occasionally manufacturers of dvd writers bring out firmware updates to correct problems with media (usually some media are not recognised correctly and written too slow). Here's the latest firmware for your writer. Install it and there's a good chance your media will now work at 8 speed. if it still doesn't work, try a different brand media.

I downloaded the firmware, and along came with it a weird virus/adware problem that I get a bridge.dll module not found error. It also gives me a problem with explorer and then shuts down.
