I have just noticed my pc making a constant light clicking noise at a low sounding rpm. It is not a fan.. could tis be the start of HD problems? I have had no signs of problems with it. It is a Wd 6.4 gb ... thanks

WD's are great for their own version of the click of death. Open the case and see if you can determine if that is what's making the noise. If so, get things backed up ASAP because one day, that click is all you're gonna get.

Hi Toolman,

IBM and Maxtor make the best harddrives IMO.

No offence taken... without actually being there to hear it, I can only use my judgement on the info given. Wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong... probably not the last either.

Hi Toolman,

I can second HAL's opinion. I had a Western Digital drive a while back and one morning it just started clicking, next thing I know I can't even run ScanDisk, so I went out a got me a Maxtor. Hope that helps.

I second the nomination for Maxtor...

Good quality, quiet drives.
