Quick ram question...

just finished my first build...with 512 mushkin ram (in my sig for exact type)...i have two 64MB DIMMs from old win 95 gateways, and a dell dimension with 128 mb DIMM...my question is...could i take the 128 from the dell (dont know what type), throw it in my build, then put the two 64MBs in the dell? would this cause any conflict since it is a different type than my ram in my build, would the old 64MBs slow down the dell? thanks...also if i dont end up doing that im thinking of putting one 64mb in my build...would this be a problem? my ram usage seems to be around 50% when im just online, on AIM and playing music, etc, and really i only have 480 b/c of my onboard video.

Remember that within this, there are two types of memory. SDRAM and DDR SDRAM. DDR is used currently like in your build with the Mushkin RAM, while the SDRAM is used by the Win95 likely. I don't think you can switch them - they have diff number of pins and such that makes them hardware incompatible.

Hope that helps,
kram

Look for notches on the side with the pins. On notch means it's DDR. Two means it's SDRAM.
