Mobo, CPU, RAM, Video card = I should be able to see it boot and BIOS?
I just got my stuff from Newegg in yesterday. When I put my processor, ram, crappy PCI mx 440, all on my motherboard. Plug in PSU to motherboard and plug my video card into my monitor, my monitor reads no signal. Now I know the monitor works because I'm using it now...
The cpu fan is running so its getting power. The card works because I'm using it now on my old rig. So I'm guessing a bad AMD 2500+ that I installed. Maybe I cracked it. The heatsink was a (female dog) to get in. Or the ram is bad? I'm getting no beeps at all. Here is my stuff: Motherboard 2 x RAM CPU |

The heatsinks for the socket A's are a pain in the butt to get on..
are you sure the case speaker is hooked up correctly? what slots are the RAM sticks in? Have you tried booting with just one stick? best place to start to trouble shoot problems.. follow this guide: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=12753 |

I'll double check with that speaker but if you look at this picture motherboard I have 1 ram in the closest slot to the viewer or cpu I guess. That didn't work. Right now I'm clearing the CMOS. If that doesnt work, I'm pretty sure my motherboard is touching metal on the bottom of my Raidmax case (which sucks so far). So if CMOS doesn't work I'll put some cardboard under it. I'll go check that speaker. |

jOhn, yellohut is right, use that troubleshooter from Hal9000. It should help you find the problem. Like you said "the heatsink was a b... to get in." You might very well have cracked your cpu. The chances of getting bad RAM from newegg is slim. If it is your cpu, you'll just have to bite the bullet and get a new one.ouch!
sorry. thorlo6

1 long - 2 short(Beep) Display card or monitor connected error
Which is strange because I'm using the card now on this computer. Its a PCI GeForce4 mx 440. What are the chances that motherboard I linked to up there doesn't support pci video cards? |

The PCI video should be in the first PCI slot. If you didnt support it from beneath, its possible to have a cracked mobo under the slot.

Put it to first slot still error beeped. Went to 2nd slot just for fun. Same error.
THEN put it back to first. Got ONE beep! Good. It booted I could actually see it on the screen. I turned it off to intall the 2nd RAM. Same error no boot. Erm, so I took OUT the RAM I put in. Same error. Tried it 3 more times no boot. Why these games?!? |

When you installed the 2nd stick of ram,was the computer unplugged?
ATX boards still get power eventhough they're off, unless power is removed completely, installing hardware with power to board still there, can damage component or board. |

They get power even though the light is off when I add and remove components?
Arg why don't the idiot engineers make it so NO power goes when you hit the power off button? Makes sense to me... Oh well, all its costing me is time. ABIT gets to lose money when they replace my board. |

Most good ATX power supplies have a switch on the rear that turns off everything. If it doesnt have this and the Switch on the front is all you got, then you should unplug it.
Not sure about your MB but many have a LED to indicate if power is applied. Quote:"Arg why don't the idiot engineers make it so NO power goes when you hit the power off button? Makes sense to me..." My old design instructor used to say, "you can make it fool proof, but you cant make it damn fool proof" Good luck |
