looking to buy some more RAM, i currently have Geil with a CAS latency labled as 2 6-3-3, is it important to match the CAS latency on the new ram with what i have?, should i buy the exact same ram again? for example on newegg it will give you CAS data with only one number for example just a 2 or a 3 or it will be only three #'s like 3-3-3, or sometimes i see the same numbers as what i have already but in a different sequence like 2 3-3-6,does it make a difference?, does a T1 make a difference?
just trying to educate myself on the topic thanks |

When matching RAM, it's generally best to match the sticks are closely as possible. Different sticks will probably work...my HP desktop has a Infenion 64MB SDRAM stick and a Samsung 128MB stick in it. It works, but probably not up to its full potential.

All the sticks will run at the loosest timings. Hence if you get some 2.5-x-x-x and put it in with your 2-x-x-x, they'll all run at the slower 2.5 CAS latency.
