Hey, im new to this forum...and i have ran into a big problem..
specs: Antec 350W amd 2200+ corsair pc3200 2x256mb ASUS A7N8X Deluxe msi ti4600 8xagp Geforce 4 heres the link to the powersupply http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...103-921&depa=0 Ok, heres the story, a few days ago, my computer was giving me the blue screen of death. Bios kept on getting all these vertical lines and many blue screen errors. Sometimes, I did get it to work and go to windows, however, it would always have default video drivers, and everytime i tried to install, it would give me errors. I took everything out and cleaned it with my air duster. ------ Now, when i put everything back in, I power up the computer, then like 3 seconds later, the computer shuts off. NO BEEPS. No signal on the computer screen. In the beginning, the post lady would go "system failed m..," but before she can finish, the computer would just shut off. As i tried to troubleshoot it more and more. The lady didn't say anything anymore. (speakers were still hooked up) I tried resetting cmos, i bought new ram (centon 256mb pc2700 new ) ..i even bought a new RETAIL amd 2400+ cpu..and a new MOBO (MSI "K7N2 Delta-L" nForce2 Ultra 400) and nothing still works.... i have no idea whats wrong, I built a few computers and I never ran into a problem this big. I tried the same thing with the msi board, and it still would shut off like the asus. But on the msi board, it has cpu jumper, and i tried setting it to "100" and...the computer would power up a little bit longer ..but still would shut off ( still no beeps..and what not..) (it was initially at default cpu settings, i tried that too..but it would shut off wayyyy faster..) BUT, whats weird was when i first powered up the MSI board, i did get ONE BEEP.....but then the computer would shut off! (thats with the cpu and memory hooked up...but I didn't see the monitor's led turn green, was still on standby) I can hear the harddrive trying to spin, but computer would shut off...and in front of my thermaltake case...when i power on..i can see the "harddrive l.e.d" flicker..but computer would just shut off... whats wrong..is it the PSU? im sorry if im vague and jumping around.....im confused.. i tried using different cables, and still no luck...can it be the PSU, or just real crappy luck that i messed up two mobos.... if anyone can help, please do :/ (im at the computers lab in my college now) and i dont think it would be a video card problem..because all the mobo, cpu, video card fans are stilll spinning.. and if the video card was the only thing that was messed up, the mobo would do the vga beep code..(which i dont get any beeps) ; ; (i can't reply so often, b/c internet access is at school) (i also tried placing all three sticks in different slots,...even just trying one stick in all 3 slots...tried it with all three sticks..and same thing) i had the comp...for around 6 months.. Welcome to the fourms, Have you looked at the PSU? Maybe that has developed a short in it. If you replaced all that stuff, I have to believe that it must be the PSU. Also, make sure that the RAM you have is compatible with the MOBO u have. Lemmie know how that goes...

I thought he said somewhere that he had, and what does the d-bracket say?
Also, sometimes even though the ram should be compatible it isn't. |

hello again..
my bro brought his computer over...and i tested out my PCI video card (my msi couldn't fit b/c his case is real small and didn't feel like spending time to try and test that out when i had the pci vga) anyways, the pci video card worked fine in his computer, but with my comp, i still get the computer shut down after I power up my comp after a few secs... I also tried the antec 350W PSU in his, and it worked fine as well.. (his computer is old, i think its like an amd 500mhz.....i couldn't test my ram on it....) I may have just jacked up my asus board, and possibly, messed up the other board as well ( i was piss off at the time...) i hope the new board i order on newegg will solve the problem >< if not, it has to be the CPU ...unless someone else knows what the real problem why the comp would just shut off right after i turn the power on

Could the CPU be overheating.... when you changed everything over.. what about the heatsink?

Sounds like improper Heat Sink mounting. Make sure that you mount the heat sink in the proper direction as it can only seat correctly ONE WAY!
