Intel Extreme Edition, pci express?

Okay, if intel's extreme edition 3.4 is their best.....how come it isn't compatible with pci express and ddr2? Their website says it is:

http://intel.com/personal/products/t...esktop_p4htxe&

but i can't find any motherboard for it with ddr 2 and pci express anywhere on newegg......does anywhere know where I can find it? A link would be helpful. Thanks in Advance!

There are a few boards with PCI-e. I have yet to see a board with DDR2, let alone both features.

I don't see where it says it *doesn't* support DDR2 and PCI-e

wouldn't it be nice just to have 1k to throw away on a cpu...just think what the cost of the other components would be if you spent 1k on the cpu alone...4000+

this is a review of that mobo in the reply above

This is truly an awesome motherboard! I have 4 WD 10K Raptors hooked up in RAID 0 along with with 4 optical storage drives (3 Plextor and the Dru700 (sony)). I have 4gb of RAM (DDR2). A P4 at origanal speed of 3.4ghz and using my personally tweaked water cooling system it is running at 4.2ghz without a problem (YEA) probably thanks to the stack cool and artic silver 5. Other than that i have a 600wat psu and i waiting to get het x800 xt pe this is truly an awesome motherboard and it comes with ever imaginable adaptor and cable.

LGA comes with 3.4 and will expand above that. sock 478 will probably stop at 3.4

Read somewhere that with 1066FSB LGA CPU's would hit 5GHz, so it looks like intel found a temporary solution to the heat barrier problem.
Also interesting is the reversion to the old naming system (by clock speed) instead of that '5xx' stuff.

Ok, I don't think anyone one of you people understand my question. P4EE is a socket 478 cpu. The intel site says it is compatible with the 925 whatever chipset with ddr2 and pci-express. However, all the ddr2 and pci-express motherboards I find are only compatible with LGA 775. I don't understand why their best processor (P4EE) is not compatible with the new hardware coming out (DDR2, PCI-express)!!!

That is correct. The socket 478 stops at 3.4Ghz, and the socket "T" 775 also starts there at 3.4Ghz.

There is LGA 775 Extreme editions, so they are compatible with 915P/925X chipsets. I believe they still use .13 micron technology (northwood) technology though.

Let's try to keep on topic and keep posts in this area to a more technical orientation. Many of these posts belong more appropriately in General Discussion.
