intel chipset

Im a little confused. If I buy an intel motherboard does the chipset need to be compatible with anything. Like the processor. If so how do I find the chipset of the processor. Or is all I need to know the socket, fsb, and stuff.

Yes, the chipset must support the CPU you're planning to use.

When you find a motherboard you like, go to the manufacturer's web site and look for the CPU compatibility list. It'll tell you exactly which processors are supported by that motherboard.

You do need to know that "stuff", but since the manufacturer's already have the CPU compatibility lists on their web sites, you just go there and match the CPU to the motherboard.
