Hello,
you need the ATA66/100 cable. It has 40 connections, but 80 wires. Usually such cables come with the mainboard if the mainboard supports ATA 66 or ATA 100. Plug the blue connection to the mainboard, and the hdd to the black one. Set the jumper to "cable select". Does this mainboard support ATA 66 on all IDE ports or only in special ones ? If so, connect the drive to that connection that supports ATA 66, and if necessary, set boot order in bios to FUTURE ARA first. RJ

the cable is basically physically better than the old IDE33 cables, the eliminate crosstalk significantly, and that in turn improves HDD speeds

It has the double amount of wires (80 instead of 40), providing higher data transfer rate.
Also it isn't possible anymore to connect the drives whereever you want and set master/slave by the jumpers. Master has to be on the black connection, slave on the grey, the blue is for the mainboard and the drive's jumpers have to be on "cable select". RJ |
