Suddenly HP Printer Problems
running 1 895Cxi (purchases 1999) on Windows XP program / hardwired link to a second computer - worked fine for the last year --
Now problems of when it starts to print it makes a zip noise and jams. Seems to be a communication error- - have done various re-installations of the printer - which seems to clear it up - both on the primary PC as well as the secondary - but it randomly re-occurs - Doesn't seem to be program related. Sometimes on program will work (or test page function will work) but not a particular program. Sometimes one of the computers works and not the other. A couple of times rebooting the computer seemed to clear it. Wondering if this is likely to be a printer related problem (ie time for a new printer) ? This seemed to start on its own not after any changes to my system. Any advice appreciated |

Exactly how do you have it "hardwired" to 2 computers? Network or a switch box? Details, please.

been doing alot of trying to figure this out-- and I think I see the problem-- but not the solution.
It seems that the "draft" mode jams it -- on either PC--- (the re installation was only a red herring as it simply defaults to Normal- but it took me awhile to figure that out!) is this then a printer issue (rather than computer) after all? |

HP Printer Problems
I have an HP PSC 950 all in one Printer. I did have Windows 98 and it worked fine. I know have Windows XP, but obtain new disk from HP and installed new software. It seem to work OK, but last month it takes spells, like will not copy. It states "Warming up", but nothing happens. It also quickly flashes "Scanner failed", but I wasn't scanning anything. I have contact HP and nothing they suggested worked, so they suggested uninstalling software for the HP and reinstalling it. Well, I did and it worked for a short period of time, now it is doing strange things again. When I turn it on in AM, it works sometimes OK for an hour or so, then it beeps and the light flashing orange, which it is doing now. No error message, just the darn light flashing. It has a UBS port and plugged direct to computer. I need a all in one printer that works, so if I can't get this darn thing working does anyone have suggestions on a fair priced printer that can scan and espically sent and receive faxes. I am lost as what to do with this, except maybe shoot it.
Thanks for any help you can give me. CactusFlower |
