CPU temp and Heatsink Fan spped

I am worried about my CPU temo
i am creating a DVD with Nero from MPEG files and the CPU temp is 59 every now and again hitting 60 setting the alarm off i dont have the CPU over clocked in any way when i am just surfing the net or useing Word the temp is 32-35 also the Heatsink fan drops below 3000 again setting the alarm off most of the time it 3050 to 3150,
i have 2 system dans just got a new case to try and solve the high temp but no luck and no cable disrupting air flow.

Also the GPU temp on MY asus v9999GA graphics card is always around 58-60 under no real load is this normal
OTs a P4 2,6 800fsb H/t cpu and a gigabyte GA-81848E(-L)M/B with 1 gig 3200 ddr ram

Man thanks

Andy

60 under load isnt too bad. Pentium 4s will downclock themselves to avoid damage if the temp gets very high (90s). Your idle temperature is fine. Did you use any thermal compound or just the pad that was attached to the heatsink?

Video cards are warm. Dont worry about that.

Welcome to PC Mech forums

60 C isn't that bad, though I'm surprised a Northwood Core would go that high...Intel hasn't made any "P4 2.6E" to my knowledge. The thermal pad that came with the CPU should be sufficient, but as a precaution, be sure to have adequate air circulation within the case.

Also, to erase that annoying warning that lets you know when 60C is reached, just raise the threshold to around 70 C - the temp when it warns you of trouble.

Hope that helps,
kram

Give that a try. Side intake work nicely. How long was the system together before you switched cases? Generally, after being used (turned on), the thermal pad can't be re-used. You *could* disassemble and use some thermal paste (arctic silver, etc) and see what that does. However, 60C isn't too high, if you're not having any problems, I'd leave it. Set the alarm at 65~70 as Kram said and let it go.

Have you opened up the case and cleaned it out recently? Maybe the CPU heatsink and fan just need to have the dust removed from them.

I think part of your problem was that you removed and replaced the heatsink without removing the thermal pad and applying new thermal grease. Whenever you remove the heatsink you have to remove the old thermal compound or pad, thouroghly clean it, and apply new stuff.
