Yes...as you mentioned earlier, it's about half the seek time of most 7200 RPM hard drives...it's very fast.

mines 8.9, i think its fast.
the only thing i hate in this PC is the cd-burner and dvd-roms taking a hell of a long time to speed up, they shut down if they arent used for like 30 mins, so every 30 mins or so when i wanna open any big prog/play a game/open my comp it starts spinning and takes AT LEAST 5 seconds, any way i can do anything about this ? what do i need to look in optical drives in order to not have this problem ?

10x, (im not hijacking thread, it has somethin to do with it, he wanted quiet optical drives, so thats one thing to consider aswell)

if im not mistaken, there is a program that keeps your hard drives running at a certain speed so they rev up fast. you can set the program so it doesnt do that if you keep your computer on while you sleep. im not sure but i think that they made a program for that.

NEC, Pioneer, LG, and Asus drives are all fast, quiet, and relatively inexpensive. The Plextor and Pioneer drives I have are virtually silent.
