More than likely the site you get the update will have instructions. Read them CAREFULLY. One little boo boo can turn the pc into a boat anchor.

Hi,
first, you need the newest BIOS. You get it from the Asus site, click here, then click on BIOS, and you will see the newest BIOS version 1012, filename ppvm1012.zip. There it also says that you need LiveUpdate 5.22.02 (or newer). It's now called AsusUpdate (used to be called LiveUpdate), and you get it also from the Asus website, from here. It's Asus Update V5.28.01 Installation Program for Windows 95/98/ME/NT40/2000/XP. Run AsusUpdate, select "Update BIOS from file", and follow the instructions. Precautions to be taken for flashing (from Asus Site): 1. Always use the most current version (that's 5.28.01 right now) 2. Don't use it on an overclocked system 3. Load setup defaults in BIOS before flashing 4. Log in with Admin rights into Win NT, 2K and XP 5. close all active programs 6. deactivate antivirus software 7. after flashing the BIOS, turn the PC completely off (i.e. pull the power cord) 8. After turning the PC on for the first time after flashing, load the setup defaults in BIOS first If you get a black screen after flashing the BIOS, clear the CMOS. RJ
