Help with USB harddisk

I have a WD 120GB harddisk in an external enclosure, which I have just hooked up via USB (although I can use firewire) to my PC. Although my computer recognizes that there is an external device hooked up (and even recognizes that it is a WD harddisk), no disk icon pops up in 'my computer', and as a result, I can't access it. Could anyone help me with this problem?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Did you partition and format that hard drive yet?

If you're using WinXP, go to Disk Management to create and format the partitions.
