Computer not recognising ram...
I used SiSoftware Sandra Standard to check what type of ram i could use. It told me to use SDRAM or DIMM memory. I opened up my PC, and found both RAM sticks had stickers on them with PC133 written on them. I also know my motherboard can handle 1 gig of RAM, with the maximum size for one stick being 512mb. So....
I went to PC World, and bought myself a PNY PC133 128mb stick of ram. Brought it home, put it in the motherboard, clicked right in there, with the two little holders clicking into place. I turned on my PC, and now it says I only have 128mb of RAM, when I have 2 128mb sticks on my motherboard. What is the problem? Thanks for any suggestions

Maybe its a faulty stick of RAM. Take out the old RAM that you know works, and put in the new RAM only. If the RAM is bad/incompatible, your computer won't work.

Edit: Is the RAM single sided or double sided? Is it pc133 RAM? There might be compatability issues here. Sometimes a bios update might fix the problem.

Couple of possibilities. The two memory modules may not like each other or the new one won't work with your motherboard. Try booting the system with just the new module installed and see if it will even boot. If it does, it is compatible with your mobo. Then it's more likely that the two modules have dissimilar specs and won't work together. If you want to add memory and have it guaranteed to work, use the Memory Configurator at www.crucial.com. You can buy right from them.
