CPU And MOBO Question

Would this CPU

Yeah, they would work, but you might want ot look at an Intel with a 800 fsb. It would be faster.

That CPU has an FSB of 533 which is cmpatible with that motherboard you've linked to, but, the ZIF socket on that motherboard looks like it can only take an AMD processor.

i like intel boards but why would and intel with 800fsb be faster than an asus with 800 fsb? not saying it would not but why?

No, they're saying he should get an Intel CPU that runs at 800mhz FSB. His mobo is capable of 800mhz FSB but the CPU that he chose runs at 533mhz FSB so he'd be shooting himself in the foot. What he wants is the Intel P4 3.0C. That's a 3.0Ghz socket 478 CPU that runs at 800. I think it's only like 40 or 50 more bucks.

my bad, i jumped to the conclusion when he said an intel it was in contrast to the asus, i didn't look far enough into it.

Actually, he can use either the P4 3.0C (Northwood) or the P4 3.0E (Prescott) either will work and are about the same price. The Prescott has more on die cache.
