why on earth would you need a P4EE???? hmm.... i'm thinking knocking down to a normal LGA775 getting a better gfx card and a better MoBo to go with it. DVD burner i would probably go with a plextor if you have that kinda money to spend on it. also would probably be nice to get a dvd rom drive so you can burn on the fly.
go with this MoBo: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...127-180&depa=0
this gfx card: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...uctCode=320883
this proc: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...116-182&depa=1
this dvd burner: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...131-329&depa=1
and this dvd-rom http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...101-124&depa=1

Welcome to PC Mech forums

Actually, for a deluxe build, the one you had looks awesome - the Intel Extreme Edt. have a LOT of computing power - used it before once, but couldn't get to the point where it would use it to its full capacity. On the RAM, I don't think you'll need ECC Registered...non-parity RAM is what is compatible with the P4EE. With the little extra money, upgrade from an ATI Radeon X800 Pro to an ATI Radeon X800 XT.

well my parents said they would go higher if i wanted some better parts or something. so im thinking of keeping all the parts but just getting a better dvd burner, gfx card, and mobo since those are the areas you said arent good.

One thing for sure, it's far better than having a 2000+ USD build built by Dell - you will get nowhere near the power and capacity of the P4 Ext. Edt.

wow..... under 5k....... dam.... i wish i had that much money.... if you have 5k i'd probably get a lian-li case, stick with ur p4EE and then get the other things i told you. setting up RAID0 might not help you that much. i'd probably set them up as 2 seperate drives. definately get a x800XT seems alright. should be a kickass system (invite me 2 ur house lol)

alienware you pay up the arse for the name. actually, i'd just get 1 raptor and mabye get another big 7200 RPM drive. the raptors you load OS and progs and the big drive you can load data onto.

the raptors are not good price vs storage. while you have a large budget doesn't mean you should waste it.

If you have leftover money, spend them on software, not hardware. A computer can only get so good - Raptors, X800XT, DDR2 PC3200 gig, P4EE is practically the best you can get now. The Thermaltake Tsunami'is by far my favorite case so far...looks great. I'd say just go for what you had, except changing the memory I pointed out earlier.

hmm i could do that. im one of those people who cant stand having money and not spending it. i never thought that spending money would be this hard hehe. im gona get another 1.5-2k from my relatives as well so im lookin at a total budget of 6.5-7k. ne1 know if there are ANY upgrades out there that i can do? such as dual processor units, more ram (not that i dont have enough), more hard drives, etc... idk is there anything else?

I'd say it would be easier to just build three systems with that budget...invest on software, you can only get so good on hardware.

hehe. if i really want to make some close friends, i could make some kick ass systems and give them to them hehe. but im too greedy to do anything like that. my parents said they would kinda like to get me an item instead of just giving me money (i think they are afraid im gona buy drugs or something with it but ive never even concidered doing drugs before so idk). i have a nice amount of cash in savings as well which i dont know where to spend and i was thinking of putting them towards this system but it dont look like i can upgrade any further. hmm....

that doesn't make friends that makes leechers. they could just take the systems and go. using money is not a good way to make friends.

Holy cow... 5k? 7.5k? Buy a decent system, games you WANT, and some software... don't waste money on something you dont want. Learn to be able to hold money or else you might have some troubles later in life... Don't know who would give a kid so much money though. Save it for later, the extra I mean. The system looks awesome though.

Who says you have to spend it? Open up a joint account or something at a bank, get a debit card, and just stick your extra money there. Your parents/grandmother won't support you your whole life, might as well save all that money you have coming in for when you need it, and if not that long then just till you can find something that you want to spend it on, not on 20 games you have never heard of or on some computer you won't even take any advantage of the true power from... but I guess it's your choice... I'm done now.

Just a note: This is coming from someone who didn't have to buy his own car, doesn't have to pay for insurance, and doesn't have to pay for gas. I can get money when I want I guess you could say, but what do I need it for? Gas and maybe going to a lunch or a movie with some friends. I am not going to get money for things I don't need and I don't think it's right to do so. Now I am done...

In my opinion, if you've got that kind of cash flow at that age, use what you need to make a really awsome computer with tons of software, games and other stuff. Get a really nice 23 inch LCD screen, some great 5.1 surround sound speakers, then throw the rest into your savings and buy a car in two years! And even if you're parents are gonna buy you a car (which it sounds like they would), you can then throw your money into upgrading that car.

But from one compulsive spender to another, try and keep some money laying around. I'm 21 now, and there have been a number of times that I needed some money that I had blown on something stupid, and ended up in a pretty deep hole. If I had made myself hold the cash when I didn't need to spend it, I'd be a little farther ahead than I am now. And you have a great advantage, try to keep it that way without getting in trouble!! Think ahead to stay ahead.

Anyway, your setup is AWSOME! You'll make tons of friends who want to come over and play games. Actually, consider making an AWSOME machine, and then a good machine, so then you can LAN them together and play multiplayer all the time with friends. That's what I'd do!
