DFI Lan Party Hell

I have a motherboard that keeps insisting on updating it's flash BIOS. It is a DFI Lan Party Pro 875B. No matter what BIOS version I update it to, or if I pull the motherboard battery out and let it reset, the darn thing keeps insisting on running it's auto BIOS updater. It never goes through POST, instead, I get a message that reads:

Award Bootblock BIOS V1.0
BIOS checksum error
Detecting floppy drive A media
Insert system disk and press enter

It wants to see a floppy with the AWARDFLASH program and a BIOS .bin file to update with. Sometimes the system would start normally, then at some point it would start with this crap again on a reboot. Now it just does it continuously. It's driving me NUTS!

Does ANYONE know how to make it STOP?! This is the SECOND motherboard I've placed in this system (I have two identical motherboards), and while it resolved one problem (faulty chip sockets that were causing the system to reboot), I can't get rid of this problem.

Any clues? The system is based on a 3.2 gig Prescott with the supplied fan (not overclocked), 4 512 meg Geil Golden Dragon ram, an Antec Truepower 480 PS, ATI FireGL T2 128 card, 80 gig Maxtor primary and 2 160 gig Maxtors in a two-drive RAID array secondary.

Thanks for any help with this.

ahhhhhhhh the troubles of a fellow DFI user . this is a common problem with AMD DFI LAN Party/Infinity series boards as well. usually BIOS ROM checksum errors are attributed to memory issues....from my experience. ive had it on two boards as well...my DFI Infinity and my Abit NF7-S. which kind of memory are you using? are you trying to run it at too tight of timings? you may want to reflash your BIOS as well, i would flash it in your other DFI motherboard and return it to its original location to see if that clears the problem up. DFI motherboards are EXTREMELY picky, picky about memory, picky about memory timings, picky about BIOSes, picky about voltages....when you think youve nailed the problem..something else rears its ugly head. i only recommend them to the super-duper power enthusiast/overclocker type person....just because the BIOS has enough options to make anybodys head spin. one thing about DFI, dont let the pretty colors fool you, these boards are strictly business and will burn you if you dont pay attention to the little stuff about them. heres a good site for you to try....even has a forum run by DFI technicians www.dfi-street.com. it would be a wise choice to pay them a visit.

>>which kind of memory are you using? <<

It was listed above, Geil Golden Dragon. The motherboard is set to it's default AUTO memory setting. I'd consider changing the settings, if only I could get into the setup!

I'll try out that site, thanks.
