Question Why the Heck Do AMD Mobos Only Have Three Memory Slots? That Seems STUPID...

Why the heck do the AMD mobos have only 3 memory slots? All Intel mobos have four which seems to make more sense due to the rules of dual channel memory. Isn't it kinda stupid to just have three?

That is rather wierd since it wouold make way more sense having a even numer of any kind.

another reason to get intel.

That's probably just the way the nForce2 chipset like it...not sure why, to tell you the truth. AMD doesn't rely heavily on dual channeling so not much problem there, though. Two slots can dual channel while I don't think nVidia nForce chipset supports two instances of dual channeling pairs. I always go Intel, so no problem there.

its due to the limitations of memory capacity for the nforce2 chipset. nforce2 supports 3GB of PC2700 or less, and 2GB of PC3200 or greater. i believe Intel chipsets support 4GB of memory.

its actually not that much more expensive to go the LGA775 route provided that you have a decent amount of money to start off with. a mid-high range comp right now i think would be better made by going intel and LGA775. the athlon 64 socket 939s just aren't compedetive enough pricewise and technology wise
