cant recgnize my dvd rom....
i have three optical drives, one is a cd writer, dvd rom, and then dvd burner. when i turn on my comp with no cd's in my opticle drives, they work fine, i mean i can see them in 'my computer' and everything. but when ther's a cd in my dvd rom when i turn on my comp, it dosn't pick up my dvd rom........ any suggestions as to why this is hapening?

So they all work normally when you boot with no disc(s) in the drives, yes? First, how do you have them jumpered and what kind of cables are they on?
Also, they may or may not be related, but two weeks ago I had a problem machine that would boot goofy when a disk was in the burner -- sometime booting, sometimes not. It took a while to find a fix, and it was a memory problem. Popped in new memory, no more problems. |
