I recently aquired a nonfunctional computer from a close friend because she thought it was completely broken. I found that the motherboard was bad so I replaced it with a different one from another friend. This new motherboard is also having a lot of problems. They AT keyboard port is shot for sure. So, I went out and got a USB keyboard and now I can't figure out how to install it. The keyboard lights (caps lock, scroll lock, num lock) flash when the computer is turned on, but after that I cannot get the lights to turn on. I thought maybe the USB port was dead too, but when I plugged the USB setup into MY computer, I got the same result. What should I do to get Windows to recognize the USB keyboard?! The keyboard did NOT come with any install software.

Go into BIOS setup, check the Peripherals section (might be in Chipset config...) anyhow, look for "Enable USB keyboard support"...most Award BIOS have this option...

How do I get into the BIOS without using a keyboard???

I think the USB port is disabled in the BIOS, so if I were to go and buy a PCI card with USB ports, then I would be able to get the USB to work. The problem is that the computer still won't know that I am using a USB keyboard unless I enable it in the BIOS, which again I can't do without a keyboard. Or is the enable USB keyboard support only for the onboard USB ports? Help!
