socket 939 vs 754
i already tried searching and couldn't find an answer
is there a performance difference between these two sockets? assuming they cost the same why would you chose one over the other performance wise? i know the 939 is more upgradeable but forgetting that does the 939 make up for the 200 mhz drop in clock speed in other ways? also i noticed i could get the 939 in a 90 nanometer chip would this be better for oc'ing and heat? also when you hear that the 939 is more upgradeable, in what way? doest this just mean that its the socket they are sticking with from here on out so you can take your proc to a new mobo with newer features when they are out? thanks in advance for all you help |

939 supports dual-channel memory, 754 does not. When I last saw the benchmarks, 939 was more expensive and had a 1% advantage, if anything, over 754. I don't think it warrents the price increase.

939 is becoming AMD's mainstream socket. Most of their new processors are Socket 939.

actually the the a64 3000+ is only 30 bucks more for the 939 and it is a 90nm processor instead of a .13micron, can anyone answer my earlier question, will 90nm procs be better as far as heat and oc'ing goes?
